  • Yo, what's up you guys. I bet you guys can guess what this discussion is about through the title so let's get into it. My theory is actually pretty dark and angsty for such a fun and entertaining show like Milo Murphy's Law but I think it can be true. I bet everyone in this fandom has wondered at least one time "Who's Melissa's mom" (or anything like that) since Melissa hasn't mentioned her mom once and I think even her best friend Milo doesn't know about Melissa's mom as well. At first, I thought Melissa's mom doesn't show up in the show just because she is working abroad or divorced with Richard but then, when I watched "A Christmas Peril", Melissa's mom didn't show up in the family reunion scene too. I mean what kind of mother doesn't want to spend her Christmas with her daughter even if she had divorced with her husband or was working abroad and for some reason , Melissa actually didn't feel sad or at least concerned about the fact that her mother wasn't there with her on Christmas (the proof is she was smiling and hugging her dad Richard like nothing happened). In my opinion, I think, Melissa's mom IS DEAD. I think, the reason why Melissa hasn't mentioned about her mom once because Melissa doesn't remember anything about her mom, because Melissa's mom died a very long time ago before Melissa could actually remember anything about her (She could die while giving birth to Melissa or when Melissa was just a baby). The point is Melissa was too young too remember so I think Richard could have hidden the true story about Melissa's mom away from Melissa so that she could live her life without any grief or pain. That's my theory about Melissa's mom, what's you guys opinion and theory? Feel free to share

    • Very much agree with this! You make good points, so kudos on your theory being watertight!

Personally, I've written in my stories ("Growth", to be precise) that Melissa's Mom died in a fire, and Melissa's Dad just failed to save her.

      ...Yeah, angsty.

    • I just like to think that by middle school, Melissa's mom had worked her way up to being CEO of a major company and that requires her to travel a lot, so she's not always there.

Then she must be a genius then, aye? Becoming a CEO of a company when she was just a teenager

    • That, or she divorced.

Mrs Chase seems just as much of a mystery as Mr Flynn or Mrs Fletcher.

Which probably means that Dan and Swampy gave absolutely no thought to who she is.

Basically...the fans gave more thought to who Mrs. Chase is than the creators.

I still stand by my corporate executive theory.

Well, there was an empty chair next to Richard at the end of the table.....

But she wasn’t even there in First Impressions either. So that kinda supports the theory that she died when Melissa was really young because it was probably before Melissa was even 5 years old.
