EPISODE 8B: TIME OUT

Written by Scott Peterson (3)

Storyboarded by Edward Rivera (4)

Directed by Robert F. Hughes (10)

Cavendish and Dakota try to get some batteries for their transmitter from Brick and Savannah (two other agents) and discover that everyone considers them to be the worst agents in the Time Bureau. They end up theorizing that the reason they fail all the time is because Milo is a counter agent and conclude that they have to stop him. Meanwhile, Milo, Zack and their dads go fishing.

Fun Fact:

Some great guest stars in this one: Brick and Savannah are voiced by Brett Dalton and Ming-Na Wen, and Mr. Block (their boss) is voiced by Mark Hamill!

Comedic Highlights:

"Yeah.", The Milo and Zack life jacket exchange, the swordfish (in freshwater?) bursting through the Pistachio stand, "A swordfish? In fresh water?", "Where's the cart?", "Well, there was this swordfish..." "In freshwater?", "I know, right?" (Brilliant Cav and Dak conversation number 743), the way Cavendish pronounces Tunisia and his eyebrow movements (I have a strange love of weird eyebrow movements. And facial hair. And swordfish. In freshwater?), Cavendish's frustration on his assignment (Wonder what 20 cycles means? Better hit the books or I'll fail PhinFerbFan5's class!:) "Your welcome!", the music, delivery and really, everything about Cavendish trying to remember the number for the future, "It was 4.", "Battery's dead.", "Isn't this freshwater?", Dakota taking Pigs in a blanket, "You get tuxedos!" "Really? Which one am I?", the battery and Swordfish is dead joke (in freshwater?), "We're standing next to each other." "So are they!", the margarine butter discussion, the thugs weird sound when Savannah kicks him (sounds like the sound the royal guards make when they fall in all that fertilizer in "Aladdin". Yeah, I just said that.), Dakota's commentary, the art lover gag (no wonder it's a badge! It's a great gag!), Brick's voice when he says "Extremely important!", the "Nice!" gag, all of Dakota hitting on Savannah (music included) (Dakota, c'mon. You know who's perfect for you!), Cavendish's delivery on "Your time vehicle is a limousine?!", "It's just different.", Cavendish and Dakota's embarrassing car, "Yeah, okay. Murphy's law, real thing"., the guy talking to his motor named Dolores, Dakota's fish bit (strangley enough, no swordfish callback. In fresh water?), "Where's my attractive partner?" "Hey, I'm sitting right here!" (they never specify who Cavendish thinks is the attractive partner...), Brick when he says "A green nut!", Brick and Savannah's disguises, "You've been working out?" "You know I have.", "Their limo smells like peppermint.", "Yeah, I could eat.", Milo's love of cheese fries and the dramatic ending.

Dramatic Highlights:

Cavendish and Dakota being told that they are a laughing stock. You really feel for them. I also like Dakota supporting Cavendish,

Aesthetic Highlights:

The action and humor of the Cavendish and Dakota sequence makes it really fun.

Cavendish and Dakota:

They fail on two pistachio missions, try to get batteries for their transmitter and end up finding out that everyone in the Time Bureau think they suck. They also falsely suspect Milo of being a counter agent, so all in all, pretty bad day.

Song:

Best Character:

Cavendish and Dakota. Brick and Savannah are close runner ups.

Worst Character:

Though not bad, I thought that Zack was a bit too cynical.

Worst Moment:

Quote:

“You’ve been given the easiest mission, yet you keep failing time and time again!”

Mr. Block.

As you can see, I really like this episode. It’s funny, interesting and not boring. It also fleshes out Cavendish and Dakota. My only real qualm is that Milo’s plot is barley existent in this episode. It's pretty boring and Zack is a little too cynical for my taste. But for now, let’s focus on this: This is a fun episode, and a good watch for here and there. Not in my top ten, but still.
